KOLTS serves children from twelve months to twelve years of age. When there is a vacancy in a group, we accept a new child from the Waiting List according to the following priorities:

  • Siblings of children already enrolled
  • Children on a “break in service” (maternity/parental/adoption/medical leave, etc.)
  • Other children on a first-come, first-served basis

There is no charge to families to put or keep their child on the waiting list.

Children often begin their time with us at KOLTS as young as 12 months of age and stay through their school years in our before and after school program. We believe that relationships are the foundation of excellent programming for young children and their families. We use documentation pages, journals, photos, blog posts and learning stories to engage families in the life of the school. One benefit of our rural location is that nature and it’s affordances are very close at hand and we see the outdoors as an extension of our indoor classrooms.

To support the complexities of today’s families, our program offers full and half-day as well as full and part week programs.

Children with Exceptionalities

KOLTS is committed to providing services for children with exceptionalities in the community. As a Lab School, we have a mandate to provide a model inclusive facility for the School of ECE students at the King Campus. We attempt to maintain a percentage of children with special needs that is reflective of the general population (around 10%). To this end, we maintain a separate waiting list for children with special needs. At times, parents of children with identified special needs receive an offer of care before others who have been on the waiting list for a longer period.
